We will be introducing new product lines in 2012.

July 3, 2010

We can add another state to our growing list of NCLB/SES passing applications. Summit will be honored to serve the students of the great state of West Virginia beginning in the 2010-2011 school year. We look forward to providing the best possible services available in our industry.

On a different note from our corporate state of Florida, FCAT scores came out today and I think everyone is anxious to hear the results.

February 27, 2010

It was top notch from start to finish.

February 8, 2010

January 22, 2010

Happy B-Day Ed C.

January 2, 2010

Another year gone by. The time seem to pass by so quickly. We are very fortunate at Summit, given the economic times we are in. There is not a single day that passes when we don't think about our positive growth but, also the vast number of people who are out of work and struggling to make ends meet. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is experiencing hardship.

December 21, 2009

A big welcome to our great staff of teachers, Jeanee T, Wanda L, Simone L, Jennifer R, and Carlos C. We also were so glad to be able to give away scholarships to 5 students this summer.

July 10, 2009

April 10, 2009

Our 2nd annual summer "Reading, Math & Writing" camp is almost 2 months away. To our parents who have struggled through these difficult times...our thoughts and prayers go out to you. We hope things will improve soon for everyone. Money is tight....but, nothing is quite as important to our children as keeping their reading, math and writing skills in top shape. Our affordable camp will allow you to do it.

March 27, 2009

It is hard to open up a newspaper and not read something about education and/or the public school system. Broward County teachers will not be receiving raises for the next year or two. Summit Learning Services has always been a champion of the hardworking men and women who teach our children. You are our heroes. Our company is developing ways for you to earn extra money to augment your classroom pay. Please contact the office for additional information.

March 5, 2009

Our Dade, Broward and Palm Beach NCLB/SES classes are starting to wind down. If everything moves ahead as scheduled, we will hopefully be providing NCLB/SES services throughout the entire state of Florida in the 2009-2010 school year. February 20, 2009

FCAT Boot Camp continues to move along. Thanks to our teachers, Jeanee O. Amy L. Wanda L. and Cindy L. You guys are incredible!!

February 9, 2009

First day of FCAT Boot Camp!! Good luck to all students who enrolled. We look forward to the next 4 weeks. Also, thank you to the Sun Sentinel for coming out and doing the story on us for their Monday Business section. We were so happy and proud of the job they did.

January 29, 2009

There are many things in this industry that remind us how truly blessed we are to be part of it. The greatest sense of satisfaction we receive is when a student makes progress towards a goal that has been set. Bridget of Driftwood Middle School is a wonderful example of how hard work and persistence pays off. In the 4 months that she has received tutoring through Summit,  Bridget has shown tremendous growth in all academic areas, especially math. We are very proud of her!

January 22, 2009

Our FCAT "Boot Camp" is starting to fill up. Please call the office for registration instructions.

January 3, 2009

Happy New Year!! Summit would like to take this time to congratulate Carlos Campos as our December "Educator of the Month." Carlos has a full load of Summit students as well as his classroom duties at South Broward High. Carlos is our "ace in the hole" when it comes to math tutoring. He is well versed in all areas of math. Congratulations Carlos!

December 31, 2008

As 2008 comes to a close, we enjoy taking the time to look back at the year. Typically, we expect to experience "3 steps forward and 2 steps back" and would always chalk that up to a successful year. In 2008, we took 4 steps forward and 1 step back. The NCLB/SES program has been quite an adventure. We learned a lot (and continue to learn more each and every day). We value our acceptance into the program and continue to make improvements. The parents of the students we tutor in the SES program have been great. They truely are concerned about their child's education and have taken the steps to make a difference. Thanks to all of you. We are proud to announce 2 new classes forming in the next month or so. The 1st class will be our 2nd annual "FCAT Boot Camp." We sold out last year and hope to have the same amount of students this year. Our 2nd class will be tutoring services for those students who have completed their SES hours. These affordable classes will allow parents to continue to keep their chid's mind enriched now that they have used their allocated SES hours. Please call the office for details on both of these classes. We will be adding the class particulars on our website in the next few weeks.

Summit Learning Services is proud to announce Mary Faulkner as our November "Educator of the Month". Mary is our lead teacher and contact professional at one of our Broward schools receiving NCLB services. Mary has done an incredible job (with the expert help of her husband, Kade). Congratulations Mary and thanks for all your efforts.

November 10, 2008

Summit Learning Services is proud to announce Amy Lund NBCT as our October "Educator of the Month." Amy not only keeps busy with her class at Oakland Park Elementary, she tutors several students, both in our private division as well as the No Child Left Behind/SES program at Summit. She is always receptive to filling in if another tutor is unable to teach and always keeps an upbeat and positive approach to teaching. We are proud to have Amy with us.

November 4, 2008

We hope everyone makes an effort to go out and vote. This is such a critical time in our country. Your vote counts........

October 31, 2008

Happy Holloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

October 16, 2008

We are now in full swing with our leased schools and teachers. Currently, several dozen teachers are working every day in all 3 counties. We are also so pleased with the amount of SES students who have elected to be tutored at our learning center.

October 10, 2008

Our 1st SES student was tutored today! This incredible milestone reflects many months of preparation and hard work.

October 8, 2008

Almost all our curriculum has arrived. We have chosen some of the very best materials available.

September 28, 2008

A special thanks to the Title 1 schools who have opened up their hearts to our company. Though we are a 1st year SES provider, our Dade, Broward and Palm Beach county Title schools have been just great.

September 10, 2008

What an experience this has been in NCLB/SES....both good and bad...(mostly very good!!). We have over 75 teachers hired and ready to go.

August 18, 2008

The set up procedures for NCLB/SES continue to require 80 hour work weeks. We have hired so many new teachers to supplement the crew of educators who already have worked with us in the past. We still need so many more. So far, we have hired 30 new educators to add to our already hired list of 25.

Summit has been fortunate to sign leases with area schools so that NCLB/SES tutoring services can be held directly at the school in which the student attends. With over 300 schools and 22,000 students eligible in the tri county area......the challenge can be daunting. The countdown to the day when actual services will begin is only weeks away.

August 12, 2008

More NCLB/SES meetings!! 24 hours in a day does not seem to be enough. We are making strides everyday but there is so much information to cover. Exciting but stressful!!

August 8, 2008

Last day of Camp "B".....this was our best learning camp so far. Thanks to our hardworking students, dedicated parents and incredible staff for making this camp such a success. We are going to miss everyone involved.

August 4, 2008

Two more weeks until most schools will be starting. We hope everyone had a nice break and are looking forward to the 2008-2009 school year.

July 26, 2008

We have hired several Florida certified educators so far for our NCLB/SES  program in Dade and Broward. We are still needing hundreds more (especially in Palm Beach county). Some key managment positions are very much needed in all counties.

Our 24hr call center is in place. Now, you can contact a Summit representative at any and time of the day or night. For management personnel looking to make a change.......the time to join us could not be better.

July 23, 2008

Camp "B" has been quite an adventure so far. Our t-shirt company has finally finished our shirts and we have had a couple of snafus with our curriculum. As hard as one tries.....bumps in the road will always occur. Regardless...when Camp "B" finishes in 2-3 weeks....our camps will have had over 140 seats filled.

We continue to interview candidates for positions in our NCLB/SES program. Please contact us if you are interested. From staff tutor positions..to key management personnel...if you are a passionate Florida certified educator..and live in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach or Martin counties.....chances are we will have a position for you. We are developing a sign on bonus and other incentives to drive our recruitment efforts.

July 18, 2008

Our meetings with the 4 counties we were accepted into SES/NCLB continue to move forward. We will be hiring several hundred teachers in those districts to assist us. We are also looking to hire area directors and school team leaders. If you are a Florida certified educator..and have the passion and drive to make a difference.....we want to hear from you. We will offer weekly pay....the highest hourly rate in the area.....and the opportunity to join the fastest growing learning services company in South Florida.

July 14, 2008

First day of Camp "B"........................

July 10, 2008

Our Summer Camp "B" is 98% sold out. We still have a couple afternoon & night slots available. Call the office for details. We would like to welcome our Camp "B" teachers. As always they are some of Broward's best public school educators. A warm welcome to returning teachers from Camp "A"..Kim B, Riva T, Lara O & Jeanee T.  New teachers joining us for Camp "B" include Nicole C, Ileana N, Carlos C and Bleidy I.

July 4, 2008

Happy 4th of July. Our end of Camp "A" party was a delight. We had a great turnout and can't wait for Camp "B" to start.

June 30, 2008

We continue to be amazed at the turnout for our Summer "A" camp and for the increased enrollment in our Summer "B" camp. Our numbers this year easily exceeded last years camp. As reported in previous Summit Scroll entries, the amazing part of all this is even though the price of gas is much higher and the economy as a whole is much worse than last year....the parents of our kids decided to make the investment.......the investment to improve the academic standards of their children. We can't think of a better investment.

June 25, 2008

The SES/NCLB Summit in Orlando was an informative event where we had a chance to meet with several providers and districts involved with the process. We are looking forward to finishing up the legalities with each district and getting started!

June 16, 2008

We are starting to see some wonderful improvements in our students...even in the 1st week of camp. Some children are beginning to acquire skills they may not have had gained during the school year. The staff is beginning much needed intervention for several of our students.

June 13, 2008

The first week of our camp went incredibly well! As I have stated in prior writings, the level of enrollment and enthusiasm is amazing. We never expected it but are extremely pleased so far.

June 9, 2008

The first day of camp! We are ready to go! Our Camp "A" group of teachers are some of Broward's finest. A big welcome to Kim B. Amy L. Riva T. Karen C. Rona S. Lara O. and as always, Jeanee T.

June 2, 2008

We continue to be pleased with the number of slots we have filled for our Summer "Reading, Math & Writing" camp. We are well over 100 slots filled so far and growing every day!

May 27, 2008

Our summer camp hiring process is almost complete. We have had the opportunity to interview some the Broward's best educators. We should have everything finished by next week.

May 22, 2008

Summit Learning Services was named elementary school "Partner of the Year" by the Broward County School Board. Jeanee Thompson/President attended the event at the Broward County Convention Center and received a beautiful glass award for her efforts.

Thanks to Ms. Moodliyar and her wonderful staff at Griffin Elementary for nominating Summit. It has been a pleasure working with them.

May 16, 2008

Summer camp pre-paid discounts will expire in a few days. This is the time to register and save $$. Hurry and call today!

May 10, 2008

We can tell everyone is ready for the school year to end. From our students and teachers, to the schools we visit.....only a few more weeks left. We are counting down the days with you!

May 5, 2008

We are so pleased with the response to our Summer "Reading, Math & Writing" camp. Enrollment is up well over 75% compared to the same period last year. Kudos to the parents of our students. Even though the price of gas is nearing $4.00/gallon and the economy is in a slump, you have made the decision to keep your child's minds enriched during the summer months.

April 30, 2008

Summit Learning Services is proud to announce our selection as an SES provider under the No Child Left Behind program for the 2008-2009 school year. Our company has been selected to provide services in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties. We will be working full force in all of these counties and hope to provide much needed tutoring to thousands of deserving students. A big thanks goes out to Jeanee Thompson M.Ed and Ed Cwieka for all their hard work in securing this contract.

April 20, 2008

As the school year continues to wind down and the end is in site.....we want to continue to thank those who have made this such an incredible year.

Summit was extremely fortunate to partner with 4 incredible schools this year. A special thanks to Manatee Bay, Griffin, Gator Run and Tropical. Our staff were always greated with open arms when we visit our partner schools. We are looking forward to some fun events with all of them in May.

April 15, 2008

Thanks to all the schools who are helping us spread the word about our summer learning camp. We have received calls from private schools who will accept our camp as summer school credit for their student's who attend.

The United States ranks way down on the list of industrialized countries regarding the number of days in which children must attend school. Some new charter school projects are even requiring students to attend school year round. We feel children should have fun during the summer break. But, studies have shown children forget 25% of what they learn during the school year on summer break. We feel our camp is the perfect answer. For 3 hours a day, our students can keep their minds enriched. They have the rest of the day to enjoy the time off.

On a different note, we hope to hear back from the Florida Dept. of Education regarding our application for the No Child Left Behind program for the 2008-2009 school year. The NCLB program continues to evolve and improve each year. We hope we are chosen to participate and should know the outcome in a couple weeks.

April 9, 2008

As spring break ends and the countdown begins until the school year is finished, we can start to look back at the year and thank those who made a difference. The staff at Summit has such great respect for the public and private school teachers who continue to do an incredible job each and every day. Faced with budget cutbacks and often against all odds, your passion and commitment combined with your background and training continues to shine.

Many of our competitors believe you are not doing a good enough job. They feel they can take a non-educator....give them 8 hours of training and provide children a higher quality education. Our staff, investors, employees of our school system, and parents who attend our centers know better. There needs to be some adjustments. Regardless, the teachers who work with our kids are heroes.

Kids need heroes. They need adults who can teach them and keep them on the right path so that they are able to make good decisions. Summit Learning Services will continue to support the incredible teachers working in our schools. Thanks to all of you!

April 3, 2008

We are so pleased with the enrollment for our summer "Reading, Math & Writing" camp. Last year we had close to 100 students. This year we hope to double that figure by utilizing additional space and adding more grades (this year we will enrolling students from 1st-9th grades).

Our camp is the finest summer learning camp available (ok...we are a little biased!!). We have already ordered our curriculum (top notch!) and we are starting to get our teacher staffing schedules completed. This camp will be even better than last year! Please call our office asap and take advantage of our early pre-paid discounts.

March 30, 2008

Summit Learning Services would like to congratulate Vera P. as our March teacher of the month. Vera is an honors chemistry teacher at a local high school and tutors several students for Summit. Vera is a personable and extremely effective educator. Congrats again Vera and thank you for your efforts.

March 21, 2008

Congratulations to all our students who completed their FCAT testing. We know you did the very best you could and hopefully the work you put in at Summit paid off. Some of you are already on Spring Break and others will be very soon. Enjoy your time off and have fun.

March 14, 2008

Our 2nd annual Summer "Reading, Math & Writing" Camp has already started to fill up. The summer months should be fun for all students but parents...please don't forget to keep their minds enriched as well. Our camp is the perfect solution! We are offering pre-paid discounts now! Call the office for details.

Summit Learning Services would like to share a very special story about our December student of the month, Billy G. Not only has Billy made incredible strides in his school work....he has also demonstrated something very special......character.  Billy was at school the other day and found a $20 bill on the cafeteria floor. Instead of keeping it...he notified the front office and turned the money in. The school was so proud of him they made a special announcement for everyone to hear. That was an incredible act of character Billy. Your school.....and everyone at Summit are very proud of you.

January 22, 2008

FCAT testing for most students begins in less than 2 months. The FCAT test has been praised and criticized depending on who you talk to. The fact remains, it is still a vital part of most public school students lives. Parents, please take this test seriously. Your children deserve to have fun time outside of school. Soccer, karate and football are all wonderful activities. Please don't forget that reading, writing and math are just as important, if not more so.

Summit Learning Services is offering one of the most comprehensive FCAT camps available. If you have any doubts about your child's ability to do well on the FCAT, or if you are confident in your child's ability to do well but would like to enrich their ability to do even better, call our office. Our camp is filling up quickly, and we will most likely sell out in the next few weeks.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 13, 2007

As 2007 winds down, many thoughts go through our head. It has been a great year and hopefully, 2008 will be even better. We are so very grateful for the ability to help as many students as possible. I know our collegues in the industry feel the same way about their learning centers.

There are so many people in the streets, without families or loved ones to go home to. There are people who are sick and suffering. Please don't forget about them. The holiday season is a time when compassion is very important. If you can, help someone. Even if it is just one person. Just think if everyone in our society helped just one person in need.

December 7, 2007

Special thanks goes out to Shawanda S., our Administrative Assistant in Plantation. Shawanda is an incredible talent (and a future educator!). Our Plantation learning center has never looked so nice. Shawnda's hard work and creativity really shows!!

During our meetings with the local public schools, we are finding more and more schools currently using or being trained in Singapore Math. This allows Summit Learning Services to be ready when it becomes an even greater method of math used in our schools. An expert in Singapore Math has told us California may be using it statewide in the next month or so. Summit Learning Services will have our Singapore Math classes available in the next week  We cannot be more thrilled!!!

We will have the contract signed in the next few weeks and it will be offered in all of our new franchised locations. The combination of our new reading curriculum and Singapore Math....all taught by real  teachers, gives Summit an unprecendented level of quality in our industry.

September 10, 2007

Our first 4 school business partners have been set up and we cannot be happier. So far, Gator Run, Manatee Bay Elementary, Tropical Elementary and Griffin Elementary have selected Summit to partner with. The business partnership program allows Summit to give back to the community and especially to these wonderful schools. Summit Learning Services value our partner schools relationships and hope to add a few more in the next week.

September 4, 2007

Singapore Math is coming!!!!!!!  Summit will be offering this revolutionary style of math in late August. For several years, Singapore has been the world leader in math achievement. Experts in Singapore Math  have taken their philosophy of teaching math to several major United States school districts and have had phenomenal success. Singapore Math  is currently used in over 500 schools in the United States and the list is growing. We are thrilled to be one of the first learning centers in the area to teach this effective form of mathematics.

August 27, 2007

We had the opportunity to visit several schools last week. I am always amazed at the students during the 1st few weeks. Such apprehension at first...then once they settle in...it is time to work! The state of Florida public (and private) school systems seems to always be under attack. The fact is, we have some of the best educators in the country! I have had the pleasure to meet hundreds of educators in the past year. I have never witnessed such passion and committment. Thanks to all of you who teach our children.

Summit Learning Services developed business partner relationships with several schools last year. We value these relationships and look forward to working with our partner schools this year.

August 20, 2007

July 30, 2007

It is the start of the 3rd week of our summer camp. The time has passed so quickly. The entire Summit staff would like to thank all the parents who were involved with our camp. You and your children made a commitment this summer......a commitment to make your children better students. It was not easy for some...juggling work and making sure your kids got to camp.

July 23, 2007

Our 2nd week of Summer B camp starts today. The 1st week went smoothly and the students are learning a lot. We hope our camp will provide them a "jump start" for the upcoming school year. It has been a fantastic summer so far!!

July 16, 2007

Summer "B" camp started today! As in our Summer "A" camp..the students came in a little nervous but quickly warmed up. We are so proud of our incredible group of teachers and support staff. By combining passionate Florida certified educators, state of the art teaching methods and the highest quality curriculum available.....our camp is unlike any other. By the time summer break is over, we will have had close to 100 students attend our camps. Thanks to our Summer "B" staff...Sandy, Bleidy, Ginger, Jeanee, Liuvy and Pryscilla.....you guys are the best!!!

Our philosophy at Summit is a little different than other area learning centers. We do not utilize "used car" sales tactics & overpriced long term contracts for classes taught by unqualified educators. We do not wear jungle costumes and give our classes cute names.

Instead, we hire the very best local educators and give them the finest tools to teach with. We offer our parents a variety of settings for their children to be taught in. The selection of what type of education your child will receive is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. We encourage every parent to check out the educator and facility thoroughly before making a selection.

July 7, 2007

First, we would like to thank Dorothy Farrell for all her guidance and support. Dorothy has an extensive background in the education field and even ran a successful private school in Homestead, Florida for many years. Dorothy....thank you for everything!!!

I spoke a few months ago about the importance of teacher certification (in this case, Florida certification) for any person providing learning/tutoring services to your children. Summit Learning Services only hires Florida certified teachers. Not only does Florida certification require teaching professionals to maintain an appropriate level of competency, it also requires them to be criminal background tested at the federal level. Most of the area learning centers have non-certified educators making up the majority of their staffs. Summit Learning Services does not consider the hiring of Florida certified educators as above and beyond the expected level of service committment...we consider it to be expected....period.

We want our mechanics, physicians and personal fitness trainers to be certified....why would we not require the same level of training and competency from the people who teach/tutor our children? We advise every parent to go to the Florida Department of Education website (www.fldoe.org) and check the qualifications of anyone working with their child. Your child deserves it!!

July 2, 2007

Summit Learning Services would like to announce Ryan and Patrick Scanlon as our June students of the month. They both have made tremendous strides and are such a pleasure to work with. Congratulations to you both!!

Our Summer "A" camp has been a tremendous success. Summer "B" will begin on July 16th. We honestly feel our camp is the very best summer learning camp in the area. With 2 weeks to go, we have almost every available seat filled. We wish all our students and families a safe and happy 4th of July!

June 11, 2007

Our first summer camp began today and we are thrilled with the start. All of the students are ready to learn!! We are almost at full capacity & hope to be 100% full for our Summer "B" term which begins on July 16th.

We have a wonderful staff of teachers with us!!...........Thanks to Sandy, Angela, Bleidy and Jeanee....and also Pryscilla for all your efforts.

May 30, 2007

We would like to announce Kalani Pigao as our May student of the month. We are so proud of Kalani and the great job he did on his SAT's. Best of luck next year Kalani!!!
